We are looking for an Application / Software Developer who will align with the business on the delivery of the company s strategic priorities. It will do this by building strategic capabilities, enabling transformational efforts, embedding quality in all systems and processes and delivering the company experience. The emphasis in the role is to understand the requirements from the business perspective and translate them into the appropriate System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverable. This role can be an individual contributor on multiple small projects or lead a team for a large project/workstream.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for applying analytical skills to determine and document accurate business requirements and present these requirements in a manner that is concise, measurable and flexible enough to meet project and stakeholder needs.
Working as a team to define the problem, discuss and debate design decisions to get to the right solution
Building front-end web apps based on agreed specifications
Documenting designs
Testing code, ensuring high test coverage and shipping code that you are proud of
Working with our front-end app teams to design and implement APIs
Learning and improving on existing technology, code and platforms
Taking on projects across the stack: front-end, back-end and everything in between
React.js (or Angular or Ember experience), Django
Python
Google App Engine (or AWS or Azure experience)
MySQL and one of the NoSQL databases such as Google Cloud Datastore, Mongo, Dynamo, Couch, etc.
Experience building REST APIs
Understanding of web development
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and computer science principles
Comfortable in Git
Experience with writing clear, straightforward, and concise code
Experience with unit testing and end-to-end testing methodologies
Knowledge with the SDLC activities expected to develop custom developed and packaged applications with exposure to:
Business Process Modeling and/or Re-engineering (preferred)
Business Use Case Development
Business Rules Development
Use Case Driven Requirement Methods
UML
RUP (preferred)
Enterprise Application Portfolio Strategy/Development Familiarity with at least one of the following tools:
Rational Requisite Pro / Requisite Web
Rational Software Modeler (or prior experience with Rational Rose)
iRise
MS Office
Education Required: Bachelor s degree / Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BA, BS) preferred in computer science, information technology or a related discipline
