Description: Reporting to the Director, External Relations the Associate Director, External Relations will develop and implement strategies for engaging employers in the communications, engineering, and government industries; create customized recruitment plans addressing each company’s unique recruiting needs as they relate to identifying potential talent at Hofstra.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Analyze internal data and industry trends for targeted outreach to new employer partners Supervise, train, mentor, and manage responsibilities for two undergraduate student assistants Manage both the Engineering & Computer Science and Communication Career Fairs, including oversight of employer registration, securing sponsorship, invoicing employers, and logistics Provide supervision and guidance for the Risk Management Association Shadowing program each fall semester Address employer inquiries on engagement with Hofstra University and our students (coordinating events, best practices for experiential learning, sponsorship opportunities, donations to the university, etc.) Work with Office of Student Employment on best practices/issues relating to the posting of student employment positions in Handshake Work with other Hofstra University departments to plan and facilitate programming and fairs Oversee preparation / logistics for all 6 Career Fairs (floorplan/layout, food, technology needs, etc.) Provide troubleshooting and support for employers and students with Handshake access issues Actively participate in Division of Student Affairs and University-wide committees/initiatives Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Human Resources, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years related experience in higher education, recruiting or related field.

An established record of accomplishments promoting student development and cultivating positive relationships both on and off-campus which cultivate career development and job readiness.

Candidate will possess demonstrated flexibility, resiliency, creativity and skill to attend to the changing needs of our employer partners and students.

Candidate will have the ability and organization to work in a dynamic and fast-based environment.

Candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills.

Candidate will have comfortability with appropriate technologies including social media and databases (Handshake, EAB).

Candidate will be collaborative and possesses the ability to think both critically and strategically.

Candidate will the ability to communicate (orally and written) with diverse populations of students, colleagues, families, and external audiences.

Will have a passion for and experience with working students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.

Candidate will possess excellent human relations skills, ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities, and perform highly detailed work.
