SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a member of the Supply Chain organization, the Purchasing Manager must proactively look to develop supply solutions to meet cost-reduction, product development and day-to-day production needs.
The incumbent’s performance will be measured by his/her ability to effectively meet or exceed cost reduction goals, quality, and delivery expectations of customers, sales organization, plant operations, distribution, engineering, new product development and supply chain management.
This person will have an understanding of supplier economics and be able to incorporate market information into supply strategy to work towards reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO), and to ensure an uninterrupted supply of low cost, quality goods and services.
The Purchasing Manager will maintain accurate and timely lead time forecasts, material status, and comply with established policies, procedures and practices.
The incumbent will be the primary vendor contact and maintain good vendor relationships while representing Saint-Gobain ADFORS, and must have strong negotiation skills.
The Purchasing Manager will measure, manage, and report new material cost position vs budget for each affected North American business to drive positive variances and trends while monitoring key metrics.
This person will also support the ADFORS internal purchasing team to reach SGNA procurement goals and objectives.
The incumbent will be expected to recommend new sources of supply and initiate and participate in cost improvement programs while having a tactical understanding of the overall requirements for inventory, inventory control, global supply conditions, and associated trends.
This position requires some travel and the incumbent is expected to maintain a flexible schedule to support the business.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field is required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Five to seven years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment developing successful procurement programs for all commodities is required.
The incumbent must show a great deal of professionalism, honesty and integrity, as they will be representing Saint-Gobain ADFORS in business dealings with both domestic and international suppliers.
Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge is required with a working knowledge of SAP.
